Gardening Volunteer

As a Garden Volunteer at the Museum of Farnham, you will help us care for our beautiful walled garden.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with horticultural tasks such as deadheading, pruning, weeding, planting, watering, potting, collecting and sowing seed
  • Interact with visitors and explain the significance of the garden and its plants
  • Supervise the garden and follow health and safety procedures

Training will be embedded in the role, and you will work alongside the Museum Operations Manager and Collections and Exhibitions Officer to ensure you feel confident in carrying out the tasks you are involved in.

Commitment:

Our Garden Volunteer team meet on Thursdays weekly throughout the year, 10am-1pm (approximately).

Skills

Prior experience of gardening is not needed for this role.

This voluntary position would ideally suit those who enjoy working as part of a team, working outside, has the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers and the public and has a love for nature.
