Volunteers came up to Ticehurst (after being made aware of our activities programme ) on ad hoc basis to sit with service users ( under staff supervision) and support staff to engage service users with meaningful activities like painting or a music show . The volunteers usually give practical help during open days like the summer party and at Christmas, laying out gazebos , putting up Xmas decorations, playing father Christmas and helping with giving out presents. They also fund raise and contribute to funding some projects in the care home like the ice cream parlour shed and dementia friendly garden currently planned for the back garden.
We need volunteers for gardening and also general help on special occasions like summer parties etc. Could you be one of our "bank of volunteers" who we can call on for those types of events?
Nothing specific but the following would be advantageous:
A desire to help
A positive outlook on life
A rapport with elderly and vulnerable people.
- Suitable for under 18s
- DBS check required
- Volunteer policy
- Covered by insurance
- Equal opportunities policy
- Volunteer induction
- Ongoing support
The friends of Ticehurst and the staff team are constantly encouraging other relatives and visitors to join in as volunteers.
