Home from Hospital Volunteer - North Hants Basingstoke

Opportunity

We are looking for volunteers who can provide one-to-one short term practical support which enables patients to return home from hospital with confidence when no other support is available from family and friends.

The role involves offering friendly and confidential support and companionship to older people on their return home from a stay in hospital; help includes post office/prescription collections, assisted shopping, care of pets, help in the home. If feasible transport or help accessing transport coupled with identifying relevant services which may be beneficial to the older person.
No personal care will be involved.

The programme of visits will normally be for 6 weeks per service user, however this could develop, if desired, into an ongoing befriending role.

Volunteers must be 18+ and own transport would be advantageous. Most opportunities will be in the catchment area for North Hants Hospital therefore Hook, Odiham, Basingstoke, Hartley Wintney.

An awareness of safeguarding issues.
All training provided.
