Would you like to provide companionship and make a difference?
We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to become Volunteer Sidekicks in Basingstoke, and support people with a learning disability to enjoy their hobbies and interests.
You will be matched to a person we support and will get to know them alongside Mencap staff. The activities you do together will depend on both of your interests but could include going out for a coffee or enjoying a football match, visiting museums and going shopping. We hope that as a Volunteer Sidekick you will help make a difference to someone's lives by helping them to enjoy their passion more often, as well providing companionship and fun.
To be a Volunteer Sidekick you need to be:
Over 18 years of age
Friendly and approachable
Good at communicating and listening
Able to volunteer for 4 – 8 hours per month
This is a flexible volunteering opportunity, where the hours are agreed by you and the person we support. However, we do ask for a commitment of at least 6 months.
