Volunteer Youth Worker (Monday Evenings)

This youth project is held in Darby Green, Blackwater for 11-25 year olds. We run term-time only in a function room at St Barnabas Church.

Commitment is just once or twice a month depending on your preference and the role involves engaging with our young people, setting and clearing up, serving drinks and working with a great team of youth workers. The role is on a rota basis so there is no weekly commitment.

The youth club is a café format with some low-level activities including board games, mindfulness colouring and simple crafts. The café is designed to be a listening ear for older young people who may have had a tough day, or need to get out and socialize for a little while. You would have an opportunity to train in Youth Mental Health First Aid if it is of interest.

Skills

Ability to interact with the young people and work well as a team. Sense of humour and willingness to have fun is key!

Volunteers must be 18+ but we're happy to accommodate uni students home for the holidays. Any training in mental health first aid is desirable but not essential.
