read 6 books over the summer (mid-July to mid-Sept)? Make reading fun and inspirational for
Registering children for the Summer Reading Challenge on a database (laptop)
Explaining how the Summer Reading Challenge works to parents / carers and children
Listen to children talking about the books they have read
Give out stickers to children and update their information on the database
Award certificates and medals to those children that complete the challenge.
The Summer Reading Challenge is a national scheme produced by the Reading Agency.
The theme this year is Space (to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing)
Must be 14+. Also, IT literate – must be able input data onto a laptop. Good communication skills – must be fluent with the English language. Be able to work as part of a team. Friendly and approachable. Be able to relate to parents / carers and young children. Be punctual and reliable, attending all pre-booked sessions, or notifying staff is good time if unable to attend. Must be eligible to work in the UK. Local people preferred / no travelling expenses paid. The Summer Reading Challenge takes place in all libraries.
