A Befriender can really increase someone’s self-confidence, reduce their social isolation and support their pathway off the street and into settled accommodation. The role includes providing companionship and informal social support, help with linking into local activities, support while attending appointments and dealing with local services, help develop independent living skill e.g. budgeting, setting personal goals or objectives and working towards them.


Reliable and empathetic, excellent listening skills, non-judgemental, positive and proactive attitude is essential.
