Volunteers are needed to crew Dawn, a specially
adapted day-hire boat, for charter hires and also to 'dispatch' the boat for
self drive hires.
We also have a holiday boat, Madam Butterfly with which help is also needed occasionally.
Our boating season runs from April to October with Father Christmas trips in December.
Some of our volunteers help with boat maintenance during November to March.
Volunteers need an
interest in canal boating, no previous experience required, just friendly, a
can-do attitude and must be physically able.
Boat Drivers will be required to obtain a CCBM (Certificate of Community Boat Management) or an RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Certficate. Training costs will be paid for by the charity.
Crew members will be given 'on-the-job' training. Refresher training for skippers, crew and dispatchers takes place early in the season.
Volunteers need to be physically able due to the nature of the role.

When can I volunteer?
Our boats are utilised as and when there is a booking plus some pre-arranged public trips. Volunteers will be asked to nominate themselves for trips each month. Trips take place on weekdays and at weekends and are typically 4 hours in duration plus pre-trip and post-trip activities.
