Read Easy Basingstoke are looking for a Coordinator to join the team. This voluntary role would suit someone enthusiastic, pro-active and organised.
The Basingstoke group was set up in 2019 to offer free coaching to adults in the borough who struggle to read. With a gentle approach and the support of a dedicated coach we help people achieve this most basic of life skills. 2020 was a tricky year, but we have done really well and now need an additional person to help us continue to grow.
A Coordinator is responsible for meeting and assessing new readers and matching them with one of our trained coaches, then supporting them both throughout their journey, with the backing of the other Coordinators and the management team.
If you are interested and would like more details, please get in touch.
Empathy - first point of contact with the group for any new reader.
Enthusiasm - new readers need encouragement as do coaches from time to time
Organisation - there are sometimes many balls in the air so organisational skills are vital.
Pro-active - thinking outside of the box is needed to meet the needs of readers and coaches.
Experience in education is an advantage but the above skills are far more important.
