Our young residents are visually impaired with complex needs and a shortened life expectancy. We take our residents on social and shopping trips and are looking for volunteers to primarily accompany staff and the residents on these trips.

The vehicles we use are Fiat Doblos which are not much bigger than a car and are adapted for wheelchair use. The role of driver includes supporting the resident to be secured into the vehicle and safely escorting them to their destination. All volunteers are welcomed to help support with the activities and to become involved in getting to know the residents they support.

We are looking for up to 2 hours per week or whatever time can be spared, day or evenings. Less frequent trips further afield would require 1/2 to a full day.

Aged 21 - 69 only

Clean driving licence, great communication skills, fit and able to use hoists and lifting aids. All training can be provided.

MIDAS certificate an advantage.
