Parent Group Helper – Support for Neurodiverse Families

Would you like to support neurodiverse families at our parent courses?

We are looking for volunteers with a passion to help our trained facilitators to deliver our programmes and support parents.

This might include:

• Offering a listening ear, emotional support, or signposting.
• Monitoring the chat function and looking out for parents’ reactions to ensure the facilitators capture everyone’s voice during our online courses.
• Supporting in a face-to-face group with setting up equipment, making refreshments and engaging with parents.

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives, a warm and approachable attitude, an ability to engage parents and carers in our courses and supporting them to achieve their goals.

Our courses take place across Hampshire and online.

Skills

Lived-experience is preferable but not essential.

Reliable, punctual and trustworthy. Approachable and welcoming.

The ability to communicate and engage with children, young people and families.

Being non-judgmental and positive in their attitude to working with individuals from different backgrounds.

Having some knowledge and understanding of supporting parents and carers, and the issues faced by disadvantaged families.

Having personal experience with running a home and/or maintaining family routines.

The ability empathise with children, young people and families, who may be facing difficult times in their lives
