The role of the Engagement Volunteer is to provide a warm, cheerful welcome and goodbye to our visitors when they arrive and exit The Vyne Mansion. Engagement Volunteers operate in the Stone Gallery. They are the first and last point of contact for visitors in the Mansion. Their role is to provide basic information about the visit to the mansion, to ensure large bags, buggies, umbrellas etc. are stored safely. Promote conservation, guide book sales, raffle ticket sales, the shop, cafe and any other offers or events that maybe available on The Vyne Estate.

Ensure a warm welcome to all visitors to The Vyne.
Observe at all times the National Trust customer care and presentation standards and always project a friendly, helpful, professional and approachable image of the National Trust.
Count the number entering the house and make sure timed tickets are observed correctly and are prepared for use the following day.
Point out the route round the house and any special interest items e.g. Children’s trail, Book Shop etc.
Ensure that no liquid, rucksacks, umbrellas or large bags are taken into the house and that they are safely stored until the visitor returns.
Sell guide books, conversion tickets and raffle tickets. Account for all monies received.
Acquire (over time) a good knowledge of the property and the National Trust’s role as an independent conservation charity so as to ensure all visitors receive an appropriate welcome and are provided with accurate and relevant information.
For visitors leaving the house gain feedback about the visit and help them to find other areas of the site e.g. Shop, Café, next Garden tour etc.

Have a friendly approachable manner, like to talk to people from all walks of life, enjoy a busy active role, are good at multitasking, have the ability to provide polite but clear and concise information, have a calm, pragmatic and patient nature. They will also need to have confidence and sensitivity in encouraging visitors to comply with Trust guidelines.
