Local Champions

To help get the community more involved with the canal we are looking for local people who are interested in the canal to act as ‘Local Champions’ and who through their knowledge of their area, the people and what is going on, are able link up with local groups and help ‘raise the profile’ of the canal. Working with other Local Champions, it is a fun role which will link in with our plans for local events and social media.

We need a number of Champions local to the main population centres along the canal  notably Fleet, Aldershot, Farnborough, Ash, Odiham, Basingstoke, and Camberley,

The only experience required is local knowledge and a love of the canal!

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills and 'Can Do' attitude.

Volunteering is a very important part of how the Canal is run and maintained, and really makes a difference. Not only that:

- It’s fun

- It’s a great way to meet new people

- You learn new skills

- You feel good giving back to the community

- It’s interesting to learn about the canal, nature and conservation

- It’s a great way to keep fit and active or just to get you out of the house and get some fresh air.
