Mascot

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are lucky enough to be in invited to a number of events through out the year. We are looking for people who are able to dress in one of our three mascot characters - Pat the Paramedic, Teddy Medic and Mr Helicopter to promote the Air Ambulance and to be able to walk around with a volunteer and a collection bucket.

What will I be doing?

- Attending a variety of events including community and corporate events, as well as festivals dressed as our mascot.

- Attending our 'Be a 999 Hero' presentations at schools across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

- Promoting the work of HIOWAA.

How much time do I need to commit?

The events are booked through head office, and the Volunteer Co-ordinator will send you the event schedule on a regular basis. You let us know which events you can attend, although we do ask volunteers to attend a minimum of 5 commitments a year.

What support will I be given?

Always be paired up with a HIOWAA representative whilst In the costume

Training on Health and Safety and how to put the mascot costume on and off

A dedicated Volunteer Co-ordinator will be available to give you support, advice and guidance

A HIOWAA ID badge

Who will report to?

You will be working with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and the Community Fundraisers.

Skills

You need to be friendly and outgoing with a confident and approachable attitude along with good communication skills.

Able to travel to venues around the county.

Under 6ft in height as otherwise you'll be too tall to fit in the costume! 

You need to be energetic and comfortable spending long periods of time on your feet.
