Mealtime Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who can provide practical support and encouragement to patients, by assisting at mealtimes.

Duties will include -

* Clear patient tables ready for meals (not including body fluids)

* Offer patients hand wipes/hand gel prior to mealtimes to cleanse their hands

* Assist patients to complete/check their menu cards

* Deliver food trays to patients bedside

* Provide the appropriate level of physical or verbal assistance to eat to patients that the nurse co-ordinator feels are suitable for the volunteer

* Provide assistance in opening packets, taking lids off bowls, cutting up food if required

* Provide encouragement and prompting to patients with their meals

* Complete food charts

* Report back any concerns they have to the registered nurse caring for the patient

The role requires a six month commitment for 2 - 3 hours a week
