Meet and Mingle Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers on a Monday afternoon to support the successful running of the group, Meet and Mingle, by talking with the older members, helping them join in activities and helping with the provision of light refreshments.

The aim of our Meet and Mingle weekly group, is to provide companionship, encourage social engagement and reduce social isolation for our members in the Hart and Rushmoor Communities. 

As a Meet and Mingle Volunteer you will assist with providing group members with the support they need to join in the group; this may include working one to one with an older person to support with participation of the session. 

NB: Please note volunteers must be full vaccinated as we are a care provider.

Skills

What do we ask from you? 

Help the person co-ordinating the activity prepare the room for the activity, and tidy up afterwards. 

Establish and build a friendly and open relationships with members at the group whilst establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries. 

Ensure that the older person’s needs are put first within all tasks and communication, whilst respecting the members’ privacy and independence. 

Maintain confidentiality, except in reporting back to the person that supports you, or in circumstances that will be discussed in your training. 

Help the older members with activities, ensuring they can get as much enjoyment out of an activity as possible. 

Serve refreshments to the members, complying with health and safety and food hygiene standards 

Undertake all training, or support meetings, as agreed with the person who supports you. 

To be familiar with and to adhere MHA’s Health and Safety Policies and policies relating to your volunteering role. 

Inform your named contact at the earliest opportunity of any change in circumstances which affect your ability to continue with volunteering, such as holidays or periods of time you cannot volunteer.

    We provide on-going support, by regular contact with a local contact.
  • Recruitment Process
    Expect the on-boarding journey to take 2-4 weeks. We will have a chat (around 30 mins) via phone, video call or face-to-face. We also request two character references from people you have known at least two years.
  • Training provided
  • Volunteer induction
    We will provide you with a full induction for the role - this is currently done online by video call, however, we are very happy to do this by telephone and/or provide postal documents to support your learning.
