Our mental health support volunteers provide practical support and assist service users at Basingstoke Foodbank locations by providing mental health advice and guidance.
Main activities and tasks
Welcome drop in attendees from the foodbank
Have discussions around mental health and wellbeing
Signposting to local support services
Report any safeguarding concerns in accordance with our policy.
Role boundaries
A volunteer is NOT able to:
Give clients their own or other volunteer contact details
Solve any problems which may arise that are outside the role
Promise to keep secrets
Give advice or deal with individuals or agencies on behalf of a clients
Support clients where there are ongoing concerns around risk and/or domestic violence
Meet clients outside of the volunteering role or hours
Have a relationship of a non-professional nature with a client
Enter into a financial or business relationship with a client

Time commitment: 2 hours
Location: Monday - Basingstoke Town Centre (10.30-12.30)
Tuesday - Tadley (10.30-12.30) and Winklebury (12.30-2.30)
Wednesday - Brighton Hill (10.30-12.30)
Thursday - Sarum Hill (10.30-12.30)
