Read Easy Basingstoke will provide free one to one reading tuition to local adults who, for whatever reason have never learnt to read.
Enthusiastic people are needed to set up a local Management Team to launch and run the volunteer group which will be affiliated with Read Easy UK,
We are also looking for reading coaches to provide the confidential one to one tuition.
Getting involved can be a really enjoyable experience and will give the volunteers the chance to transform the lives of individuals in their community.
What all potential coaches have in common is the love of books and concern for those around them who are disadvantaged by not being able to read. Following a days training the coach is paired with a reader and tuition takes place for 30 miniutes twice a week at an approved venue.
Readers learn at their own pace and typically it can take between six months and two years.
The management team will be a group of interested people with different skill sets who can manage the running of a successful group: organising fundraising, publicity and venues, recruiting a Co-ordinator, networking with potential referral agencies and maintaining the standards of provision.
