Research and Campaigns Volunteer

Could you use your analytical and research skills to help us make a difference

Task:             Review, analyse and research relevant data from Citizens Advice, and contribute to agreed report(s)

Aim:              To influence improvements in policy or practice, reflecting identified priorities and concerns

You will be working on defined short term projects but there will be recurring ones for different projects over a longer term period, would also suit  students who have time over the holidays or in between exam commitments etc.

Activities:

Ø  Liaise with existing advice staff to identify key concerns and issues

Ø  Research and review data from advice work to identify trends and issues

Ø  Identify the action needed to alleviate the problem

Ø  Compiling the evidence into a report which clearly demonstrates the problem and what action is required

Ø  Helping publicise the report (eg by talking to local councillors, MPs, media contacts and Citizens Advice national contacts)




Skills

Awareness of social policy, particularly the impact of law on people’s lives

Ability to research and analyse data, and write reports

Good IT skills

Good communication skills

Outcome for Volunteer

  • Gain practical experience in research
  • Achieve understanding of social and welfare law and how to influence change
  • Be supported and supervised by experienced staff
  • Achieve a name credit on report where agreed work is completed
