Interested in education? Looking for an interesting role in your local community? Then why not join our board of governors?
We have recently completed a self-evaluation of our Governing Body and are specifically looking for a governor who has a strong financial background along with a willingness to volunteer in a school environment.
We would be delighted to hear from anyone with a background in finance and who has:
* An interest in the performance of the school.
* A desire to contribute to and represent the community.
* An open and enquiring mind.
* The ability to look at issues objectively.
* The confidence to ask questions and join in debate.
* A willingness to listen and make informed judgements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Whilst no prior experience is necessary ideally you will have a background in business as this could prove advantageous; for this particular role we are looking for an individual with a strong finance background i.e. accountancy, financial services etc.
Availability to visit the school from time to time during the school day, both to observe its work and to be a visible presence on behalf of the governing body.
Becoming a school governor is an excellent opportunity to give something of real value back to the local community.
The role is varied and yet doesn't 'take over your life'. It's also an ideal way of sharing your life experience / business knowledge and can be incredibly advantageous for those looking for 'board' level experience.
There is no requirement to be a parent in order to become a school governor.
