Sporting Memories Volunteer - Sandhurst

The Sporting Memory groups support older people, predominately isolated men living with dementia, depression and loneliness by engaging them in social activities and helping them to recall memories of watching or playing sport. By sharing memories of sporting moments and tapping into a passion for sport we help people to connect with others and with their past, reawakening positive thoughts and feelings that otherwise remain hidden away.

Our local Sporting Memories Network (SMN) are working to set up a new 'sporting memories group' for older people in the Yateley / Sandhurst area. If you have a couple of hours free on a Tuesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm, have an interest in sport and like to chat - they'd love to hear from you.

No specific skills or experience is required, as training and support will be provided by the Sporting Memories Network team. However, if you have some understanding of the issues faced by older people, particularly those living with dementia, please mention this, as such knowledge will be helpful.
