Almost all Hampshire's libraries regularly hold free rhyme times aimed at our youngest library members. Many libraries also host story times for slightly older children to develop their listening skills and love of reading. Here in Fleet we hold our Baby Bounce sessions on a Thursday morning between 9.30am and 12pm, in total there are 3 sessions back to back so we're really busy and have a lot of fun!
We are looking for volunteers who are happy to help with the following:
Help prepare the area where the session takes place and also help to choose the rhymes or stories.
As they arrive, you'll welcome the families of small children and babies and oversee buggy parking!
Join in and encourage parents and carers to do the same and when the session ends, chat with the adults and help them locate any books they may be interested in borrowing.
Finally, help clear up after the session ends.
Volunteers must be 16+ so great opportunity for students undertaking childcare / social care courses.
Must be available on a Thursday morning.

Have good interpersonal skills enabling you to talk and listen to young children in a friendly and patient way.
