Treasurer

We are currently looking for a Treasurer to join our board of trustees. The role takes specific responsibility for guiding and advising the board in relation to budgets, accounts and financial statements, coupled with supporting the financial aspects of our strategic development. 

The role supports a salaried administrator, so does not involve detailed book keeping. Ideally we would like someone with a good understanding of accounting procedures, with the financial qualifications or experience to contribute effectively to the organisation. 

The time commitment is around 2–3 hours per week including quarterly board meetings which are held in the evenings. We also have occasional sub-committee meetings that the treasurer maybe required to attend.


Skills

Have financial qualifications or experience.

Preparation of periodic management accounts and production of year end financial statements for regular presentation to Trustees / AGM and filing with the Charity Commission 

Have good listening, verbal and written communication skills.

Be able to exercise good independent judgment and if necessary to make difficult recommendations.

Periodically review, with the bookkeeper, accounting entries for completeness and accuracy

Excellent good numeracy skills to understand accounts.

Be able to explain complex financial information in an accessible way.

Availability Details

The role is very flexible with most communication undertaken by phone and email. We hold quarterly board meetings in the Victoria Hall which are generally early evening from around 7.30pm.
