Trustee

At Citizens Advice Hart we are looking for new Trustees, with a wide range of backgrounds, experience and skills, to join our diverse and energetic Board. We are particularly seeking individuals who have experience and skills in marketing (event management, social media, public speaking) and fundraising but all applicants will be equally considered.

We are part of the influential, national Citizens Advice network but are governed and managed locally as an incorporated charity. We provide free, confidential, impartial advice to anyone who needs our help. Our volunteers and staff help people find a way forward with their problems on topics such as welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment rights and discrimination issues.

Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality, and challenges discrimination. The Trustee Board's main focus is strategy and business planning, governance, compliance and providing support to the Chief Officer.

Skills

The best Boards are made up of a wide variety of motivated people, all of whom share a common interest in a charity's services and success. The ideal person will bring innovative ideas, enthusiasm and excellent judgement to help lead the organisation. Understanding of, and empathy with, the types of issues faced by Hart CA's clients is also important.

You would need to be able to commit to attending trustee board meetings which areĀ held 8 times a year.

How will we support you?

We will support you in your new role with us with through a comprehensive induction programme working with a trustee mentor. We also provide learning opportunities to our trustees at local and national level to advance their understanding of our work, our challenges and opportunities

Availability Details

Board meetings are held remotely 8 times a year therefore most of the role is home based with correspondence between trustees being email and phone based. There maybe occasional additional meetings for specific projects or sub-groups.
