Visitor Welcome Volunteer

Roll out the red carpet! We need to give a warm welcome, as well as any important information visitors will need to get the most out of their day. Visitor Welcome volunteers are multi-tasking superstars who can brighten up even the rainiest day!

As a Visitor Welcome volunteer you will be the first point of contact for all our visitors and provide a warm welcome to The Vyne. You will answer any immediate questions, help them to orientate themselves and generally give them the information they need to ensure they have an enjoyable and memorable visit. We are looking for someone who will really enjoy the chance to make someone’s day, every day.

What’s involved?

Making everyone welcome, answering questions about The Vyne and the Trust as a whole

Welcoming families by talking to children as well as adults and having stickers, leaflets, trails and to give out at the end of the visit. Thinking about the best routes around the property, especially for disabled people and families

Finding out what’s on offer at The Vyne and other local sites, so you can promote The Trust, and encourage people to join

Be well informed about the opening arrangements of The Vyne, any forthcoming special events and the nature and location of facilities for visitors, e.g. toilets, tea room, shop etc

Getting to know the processes for enrolling new members, like direct debit or card payments, and setting up subscriptions

Keeping the reception area inviting, up to date and a hub of activity

On occasion, sell raffle tickets or monitor visitor experience through surveys, as required

There will also be times when you will be required to walk around the car park and grounds talking to our visitors and giving them guidance

Cheerful - even when a coach party has just arrived and it’s a little bit hectic!

Organised, and good with paperwork

    Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and volunteering place will be paid, up to 30 mile round trip at 33p per mile and other reasonable expenses agreed in advance.
