Warm Space Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to support local people who are using our warm space.

With a cost of living & climate crisis, many of us are facing tough decisions. Some of us have moved to working from home following the pandemic and are facing a winter with increased energy bills. Others are facing even harder decisions about whether to heat or eat.

Cove Methodist Church joined this venture as we wanted to be able to offer our local community somewhere to go in the winter months in response to the need for friendship and food within our community. We offer a space to come and meet others, have a cuppa and chat. We have a light meal together at about 5pm which, of course, volunteers are welcome to share. This is an intergenerational get together - we play board games, offer crafts and a space for kids to run around and a quiet space for others.

We would love to have help with

  • setting up
  • hosting and chatting to people
  • playing board games
  • preparing food and making drinks
  • washing up
  • clearing away

If anyone is 'crafty' then help with organising that would be great too.

No specific skills needed - the main thing is to enjoy being with people!

  • Age restrictions
  • DBS check required
