Yateley Common Volunteers - Sundays and Thursdays

Yateley Common plays an important role in nature conservation and is protected under UK and EU law. It is also a vital recreational resource for the local community and visitors to the area.

Much of the common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area (SPA) because of its importance for wildlife.

Working in conjunction with the Yateley Society, we are looking for willing volunteers to join our work parties for practical conservation tasks on the Common. You will meet like-minded people, see rare wildlife and learn new skills. Tasks vary from wildlife monitoring to scrub-cutting, bridleway creation and boardwalk renewal.

Any training needed will be given, for instance in the use of tools or the management of habitats.

The working parties are every Thursday and the last Sunday of each month, each session lasts for around 3hrs.

We also offer groups and organisations the opportunity to undertake team-building days by carrying out practical tasks. These can be tailored to the needs of the group.

Just enthusiasm and a reasonable standard of physical fitness.
