Young Leader

Help run Yateley’s youth clubs and learn as you go! A volunteering opportunity for those who are aged 16-18, to give support to the adult Youth Workers.

Vision 4 Youth is a charity in Yateley that runs youth clubs for 11-18 year olds, and we are looking to make additions to our current team of volunteers. We run a variety of different youth clubs, term-time only, and provide different activities on different evenings as follows:

  • First Steps Cafe - Mondays 7:30-9pm at St Barnabas Church, Darby Green. A drop-in cafe aimed at age 11-25 year olds. Signposting advice for those with mental health concerns, or a chill out space for others.
  • Creative Club - Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm at The Tythings Youth Suite, Yateley. Arts, crafts, cooking and other activities for age 11-18 year olds.
  • Sports Club - Wednesdays 7-8pm at The Tythings Youth Suite. A boxercise class taught in a fun, active and non-competitive environment.
  • Thursday Club - Thursdays 6:30-8pm at The Tythings Youth Suite. A traditional drop-in youth club with games, tuck shop and chill out space for those in school years 6, 7 & 8 (age 11-14).
  • Friday Night Club - Fridays 7-9pm at The Tythings Youth Suite. Our flagship club for 11-18 year olds that has been running for decades! Drop-in for a game of pool, table tennis or other games, or they play outside on the floodlit tennis courts.

We are looking for volunteers to help in any of these clubs, depending upon personal interest and availability. A Young Leader is someone who assists the youth workers in the running of the club, including setting up activities, assisting with refreshments in the kitchen and clearing up at the end of the session. You can get more involved with the young people if you would like to and you get to work with a great team of youth workers! Learn skills in working with children and young people as well as how a charity works. Also, depending on which club you volunteer for you would also learn other skills such as supporting mental health struggles, coming up with ideas for craft activities, personal fitness training and much more. All roles are on a rota basis so there is no weekly commitment for any of the clubs and work placement support can be provided if required.

Skills

Ability to interact with the young people and work well as a team. Sense of humour and willingness to have fun is key!

Full training is given with the opportunity to attend courses on youth work related topics and its a great way to enhance your CV.

If you are age 18 or over please see our other adverts for Volunteer Youth Workers – this role is for those aged 16-17.
