Opportunities with Basingstoke Counselling Service

About

For over 30 years Basingstoke Counselling Service(BCS), a registered charity (no 90055900) has offered counselling to the adult population within the Basingstoke area who may have a wide range of mental health or emotional problems . Our charitable purpose is to provide high quality counselling, irrespective of ability to afford. This is where BCS offer s something different from other counselling organisations, since private counselling is often very expensive and , counselling offered by the NHS is usually time limited. BCS aims to support clients as long as they need, although short term counselling is available. By adjusting our requested donations (typically £15 -£50 per session) according to individuals' financial situation, we try to provide much needed counselling to people with low or no incomes, who otherwise could not afford it. Over 60 people are being helped at any one time.
BCS' other main activity is counselling training, ranging from one day workshops and seminars through to 1-3 year courses
Our counsellors all work on a voluntary basis, and are supported by external supervisors and trainers, four part time staff and a small part time management team. There are currently 5 trustees on the Board .
