Parity for Disability provides vital services for people with multiple disabilities in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and beyond.
Each person with multiple disabilities has a future and the potential to learn and grow. At Parity's day services, people aged 18+ (called students) develop communication and independence, make choices, are included socially, have access to learning opportunities and maintain important life skills. They plan frequent trips out, whether it's lunch at a local pub or a day by the sea.
The students across our three day services in Camberley, Mytchett and Farnborough are supported by a high ratio of trained staff and access a fleet of adapted minibuses.
Our qualified physiotherapist works with each student to maintain mobility and flexibility as well as control pain in joints, muscles and bones. She advises on positioning and equipment to ensure that the students safely take part in the range of activities that they do.
We invest in communication training for the staff and work with students to maintain and increase their communication skills. The range of interactive or assistive devices at each day service includes Eyegaze eye-controlled technology.
Parity's state-registered music therapists work with adults and children in a variety of settings including schools and colleges, day services, residential and family homes.
Parity's Activity Scheme for young people runs during the Easter and Summer holidays and the emphasis of the scheme is on fun, giving those over 12 with multiple disabilities the opportunity to do the sorts of things other young people take for granted.
