Opportunities with Over The Wall

About

Over the Wall is a national childrens charity. Our purpose is to provide life-changing experiences for children and young people aged 8-17 who are affected by serious and life-limiting illnesses. We do this by offering free activity camps specifically developed to foster coping, resilience, self-esteem and confidence.

We give children one glorious week of experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun and empowering, in a physically safe and medically sound enviroment. Over The Wall is the only residential camp in the UK structured on the late American actor, Paul Newman's renowned Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. As Paul Newman put it: "A place where kids can kick back, relax and raise a little hell'. All camps are entirely free and do not cost the children or their parents one penny.

Since 1999 many of the UKs most seriously ill children have been able to go swimming, catch their first fish, dance in the sunshine, perform centre stage and create the memories of a lifetime. Most importantly the self-esteem and confidence of these campers skyrocketed as they learnt that they are not combating these terrible childhood diseases alone.

The brothers and sisters of children with serious illness face tremendous challenges in coping with their siblings devastating illness. We therefore hold a siblings week which allow the siblings the same fun experiences they've heard about!
