Opportunities with Sporting Memories Network

About

Sporting Memories Network has projects from Newcastle to Hampshire and works collaboratively with communities, volunteers and like minded organisations, to establish, run and sustain free weekly reminiscence groups for people over the age of 50. Typically these groups involve 8-12 participants or older men, mainly over 65 but younger men are welcome, as are partners and carers

The Sporting memory groups support older people, predominately isolated men living with dementia, depression and loneliness by engaging them in social activities and helping them to recall memories of watching or playing sport. By sharing memories of sporting moments and tapping into a passion for sport we help people to connect with others and with their past, reawakening positive thoughts and feelings that otherwise remain hidden away.
