Community safety teams from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hart District Council and Rushmoor Borough Council, in Hampshire, have joined forces to better tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, under the heading “Safer North Hampshire.”
There were previously three separate local authority community safety teams established from the Crime and Disorder Act (1998). In November 2012, the three existing community safety teams began working together, alongside other partnership agencies, as Safer North Hampshire.
Safer North Hampshire seeks to pool resources, powers and expertise to provide a comprehensive response to community needs, whilst raising the understanding of community safety issues and improving the qualify of life for local people.
Safer North Hampshire has an antisocial behaviour team, who work with partnership agencies to reduce lower level offending behaviour, which can affect quality of life and fear of crime, and a projects team, who help run various crime reduction initiatives throughout the areas, as well as providing drug and alcohol education in local schools.
