Established in 1970, Life is a national charity that exists to provide supported housing and care to vulnerable, homeless and at risk pregnant women, who find themselves in a crisis and with little or no support network or family connection.
Many are escaping abuse and have complex, multi-faceted issues to deal with, such as mental health problems, alcohol and/or drug abuse; have left care or face some other kind of disadvantage. We provide mothers with a home and enable them to gain the skills that are needed to live independently, to prevent repeated homelessness and break the cycle of disadvantage that many struggle to escape.
Through the houses we equip these vulnerable mothers with mutually agreed support plans, life skills training and education. These are vital elements in ensuring that young women faced with an unplanned pregnancy are fully supported into motherhood, and that their babies are protected with a safe and secure foundation in which to start their lives.
