Good on the phone? Great organiser? We are looking for volunteers to help co-ordinate our volunteer drivers with our elderly and infirm clients requiring transport to their medical appointments.
We are looking for volunteers who have a few hours to spare one day a month to arrange and co-ordinate our transport provision. The role whilst home-based is very interactive as the phone lines can be very busy and you will be chatting for most of the day!
From 10am -1pm we would divert calls to your home, for you to take calls from clients who need transport. Lines from clients close at 1pm and you will then spend the rest of the afternoon liaising with our team of volunteer drivers by phone to arrange their schedules and writing up the transport bookings . All telephone usage is reimbursed - so no cost to you.
New volunteers initially 'shadow' our existing admin volunteers until they get the hang of the role. This involves 3 days over a 3 week period.
We are not computerised so as long as you communicate well on the phone (which must be a land-line) and enjoy keeping records and writing appointments down in a diary - we'd love to hear from you!
You need to be a good organiser with great communication skills, a clear speaking voice (many of our elderly clients are deaf) and heaps of common sense. No computer skills necessary, though could be useful.
Currently a diary and card system is used to match the drivers with clients.
This is a really busy role and therefore the commitment for the day is around 10.00am to late afternoon.
Volunteers ideally need to live in Fleet or Church Crookham as this is where the organisation operates.
