Naya Bato have a team of English and Nepali tutors who run a weekly English class for ex-Gurkhas and their families.
We are looking for at least two more people to help deliver our classes. We have around 60 students divided into groups by English ability.
The students are mostly elderly; their English language skills are very limited and some have little experience of formal education but they are very friendly and extremely keen to learn.
You don't need any formal teaching or training skills (although you would find such experience helpful), just a reasonable knowledge of English grammar and syntax, good people skills and a degree of patience! Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team is also very useful.
We meet every Wednesday morning; volunteers generally arrive around 10.30am, although the classes do not actually start until 11.00am until 12.30pm in rooms kindly provided by the Mormon Church in Aldershot.
