Volunteer Health Walk Leaders (Wellesley Woodlands)

Do you enjoy getting outdoors in your local area and meeting new people? If so, being a Volunteer Health Walk Leader could be for you!

We are looking for volunteers to help run our health walk program which we aim to launch in the Spring and Summer of 2021.

These health walks will take place within Wellesley Woodlands to help local people connect with this fantastic greenspace, with walks lasting between 45 minutes-1.5 hours. You will be trained and supervised before being required to deliver your own health walks in pairs, so that you will never be volunteering alone. Ideally, you will be able to commit to occasional or regular walks, rotating with other volunteers. Walks will start off as monthly during training, becoming weekly occurrences once we have recruited and trained enough volunteers to fill the increased demand. Following a sufficient volunteer recruitment pool, we will organise health walk dates which best suit volunteer availability.

Each successful volunteer will receive a health walk welcome pack to facilitate their role, including a branded hi-viz jacket, name badge and mini first aid kit. Once you are signed off to deliver walks, we hope that you might like to make these a regular feature in your monthly schedule as you connect more with regular attendees.

Whether you enjoy being outdoors and taking in the environment, learning about the heritage, or just enjoy meeting people. This role will be rewarding and provide you the opportunity to feel connected with your greenspace and local community.

The role requires you to be a people person and a leader, who is not afraid to get stuck in and talk to people of all ages and backgrounds. Aldershot is a diverse community and we want to create an inclusive group where all are welcome.

We are looking for the following qualities:

·       A good team player

·       Works on own initiative

·       Reliable and focused

·       Approachable and friendly

·       Flexible availability

·       Willing to volunteer in all weathers
